Heifer International, a global development organization working to end hunger and poverty in a sustainable way, is pleased to announce the top three winners of the AYuTe Nigeria Challenge 2023.
The AYuTe Nigeria Challenge is an enterprise development program initiated by Heifer International to identify, nurture, and support innovative, relevant, and technology-driven agric-centric enterprises to grow, scale, and thrive. The challenge serves as a springboard for identifying outstanding young agritech innovators, as well as assisting in the formation of strong partnerships. As a result, the competition will increase visibility for growth and improve smallholder farmers’ productivity.
The top three winners of the AYuTe Nigeria Challenge 2023 are:
First Place: Extension Africa, a scalable private extension service provider that uses its proprietary innovative technologies to provide sustainable access to smallholder farmers, founded by Tajudeen Yahaya.

Second Place: Rural Farmers Hub, a software development company that has created a software called CAPTURE that converts soil and crop data into powerful insights for smallholder farmers, resulting in improved crop productivity and increased income for farmers, founded by Elochukwu Azubuike.
Third Place: Bridge Merchant Entreprises, a decentralized agricultural system that connects smallholder farmers worldwide. It empowers local youths to onboard farmers using technology, providing them with a real-time marketplace, training, extension services, and access to silo storages, founded by Chiwendu Nweke.
In addition to the prize money, the winning innovator and the first runner-up will both be invited to apply for a six-month Massachusetts Institute of Technology Solve Virtual Innovator Support Program sponsored by Heifer International.
The AYuTe Nigeria Challenge is part of the larger AYuTe Africa Challenge, which awards up to US$1.5 million each year to leading agritech innovators across Africa. National competitions are held in Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Tanzania, and Uganda, with each country awarding up to $20,000 in cash prizes.
