Suspected bandits on Friday reportedly stormed the Adanla community, a suburb of Igbaja in the Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, allegedly kidnapping over eight persons.
Reports indicated that the incident took place around 7pm on Friday, as the armed bandits started shooting indiscriminately, throwing the entire community into fear.
It was also gathered that armed assailants stormed the community in large numbers and moved from house to house threatening residents to submission.
Despite the intervention of the military to support the local security operatives, the armed bandits kidnapped over eight persons, with many sustaining various injuries.
Contacted for clarification, the statw police spokesperson, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, said she did not have the full details of the incident.
“I will contact the DPO for the full details and get back to you as soon as possible,” Ms Ejire-Adeyemi told our correspondent on Saturday.
The development came hours after the U.S. lauched military airstrikes on ISIS terrorist enclaves in Tangaza local government area of Sokoto State.
The federal government later confirmed that debris from expended munitions fell in Jabo, Tambuwal LGA of Sokoto and in Offa, Kwara, destroying buildings while throwing residents into panic.
“During the course of the operation, debris from expended munitions fell in Jabo, Tambuwal Local Government Area of Sokoto State, and in Offa, Kwara State, near the premises of a hotel. No civilian casualties were recorded in either location, and relevant authorities promptly secured the affected areas,” said the information minister, Muhammed Idris, in a statement on Friday.
