Beyond Anger, Beyond Politics – Muri Ajaka, Come Home

Dear Muri Ajaka,

I may not be a member of your kitchen cabinet, but I consider myself your closest friend because, beyond politics, we connect more deeply. To say you are a political dinosaur is needless regurgitation—you are an enigma. You have nothing else to prove, given your larger-than-life and unprecedented status.

Like Muhammadu Buhari, you penetrated the Kogi political scene, leaving many politically bruised, daring the undareable, and eventually standing tall as the only political opposition element in Kogi State.

In less than three months, you built and breathed life into a comatose political party. Using that party, you rode roughly and fiercely into a poll that left the ruling government in Kogi State shaken and gasping for air. In the history of gubernatorial elections in Kogi, no opposition candidate has humbled a ruling government the way you did. It was an unprecedented feat and remains unrivalled.

You toured the whole state to sell the candidature of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, giving him the highest votes from the Kogi East area of the state. You were stoically and politically on ground; you strengthened the APC—then politics happened. You left the APC for the SDP. There, you showed class and strength and today remain a political enigma.

With nothing more to prove, this is the time to return to where you belong: the All Progressives Congress. The President needs you—most importantly, we need you more. A good leader is never obstinate but flexible. You are a leader who should be amenable. We understand your anger with the APC at the state level, but the APC at the national level needs you more. It is not a weakness to return to where you started; it is a demonstration of love. It bleeds deeply not rejoining the party. You are not a provincial leader but a national reference.

Alhaji Murtala Yakubu Ajaka, the APC needs you because that is your home. Collapse your SDP structure and fuse into the APC, while maintaining your regional strength in the entity called Kogi State. Greatness is measured by one’s grasp of his locality; you have proven that. Kogi East can be delivered to the President through your political strength.

Muri Ajaka, return to your APC now!

Frankly musing.
