The Borno Geographic Information Service on Wednesday unveiled an advanced automated application portal for land documentation and acquisition by individuals.
BOGIS executive secretary, Adam Bababe, said prospective plot buyers interested in acquiring all sizes of plot in low or high-density areas or land of GRA standard size could apply digitally via the BOGIS portal.
Mr Bababe made this known at a news conference during the unveiling of the new portal in Maiduguri.
He said that the portal had provided digitised access to prospective land buyers to acquire plots in the new layout along Maiduguri Ring Road without human interference from the application stage to approval, as designed by the service.
The executive secretary said that the innovation had completely eliminated the services of middlemen in processing land acquisition from the government land office, as it were.
Mr Bababe stated further that the concept also eliminated the costs of purchasing land and registration, adding that the applicants would automatically perfect all processing themselves or, in the case of those who lacked digital education or were of an age that prevented them from doing so, through their representatives.
He said that anybody could apply for the purchase of land through the portal, using their NIN among other requirements, and that, upon completion and confirmation of accuracy, approval and allocation of land would be made by machine with a single click.
According to him, the minimum rate for land in a low-density area was set at N750,000, while the highest rate for land in GRA was about N4 million.
