SUMMIT POST News can authoritatively report that in a major breakthrough, security agencies delpoyed to ensure peaceful polls in the November 11 governorship election have apprehended a lead thug, Friday Makama, the State Auditor General, Alhaji Yakubu Okala, along with a group of other individuals, ahead of tomorrow’s governorship election.
Also arrested are the Kogi State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Gabriel Yunusa Olofu, and the Chairman of Igalamela local government, Zakito Umar.
The group who were travelling in convoy of five cars were arrested on Itobe Bridge, enroute the Eastern part of the State, with a large sum of cash and weapons.
Source at the venue of the arrest Makama was arrested with about 5 cars, along with the State Auditor General, Yakubu Okala, his wife, and the Chairman of Igalamela LGA. The security agencies also found a large cache of arms in their vehicles.
It is believed that the group was planning to use the cash and weapons to induce and intimidate voters during the election. The arrests have been hailed by many as a major victory for the security forces and the electoral process.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has assured the public that it is committed to conducting free and fair elections in [State Name]. The Commission has urged voters to come out en masse and exercise their franchise without fear.
