Bandits numbering over 60 invaded Garin Baka village in Ardo_Kola local government area of Taraba state and killed many people.
The gunmen came into the village from their den located on top of a mountain at about 7.30pm Friday and opened fire from all directions.
Findings further reveal that the gunmen set houses on fire and rustled cows and also looted shops and warehouses.
A resident, Yakubu Garba said the attackers came when many of the villagers were praying inside mosque.
He stated further that prayers was halted and there was pandemonium in the village as residents ran for their dear lives.
According to him, some of the residents escaped into a near by forest but two of his family members were among those killed during the attack.
He said many other people escaped into the forest with gun wound.
He said so far more than ten bodies were recovered but several people including women and children are still missing.
Garba, further stated that soldiers and police were drafted to the community.
Spoke person of Taraba police command SP Usman Abdullahi confirmed the attack but could not give actual figure of those killed because according to him, official report of the incident was still being awaited from Sunkani Police Division.
