Ex-Presidents Muhammadu Buhari and Umaru Musa Yar’Adua have been named among the top 100 Nigerians from Katsina.
A book titled ‘100+Eminent Nigerians from the Katsina State: Profiles in Nation Building and History, Volume One’, was launched in Katsina on Wednesday.
The book was launched by Ibrahim Kabir-Masari, a presidential aide. The book was published in recognition of Katsina indigenes who have contributed in various capacities to the development of the state, in particular, and the country at large.
Governor Dikko Radda said that it was not just about inaugurating the book, but residents, especially the young ones, should read it so that they could learn from it.
According to him, many young people are unaware of the contributions of the individuals listed in the book, hence the need for them to read the book and learn from it.
“This is not just a book, but something to hold dearly close to our hearts with a view to studying it, learning from it, and emulating the works and good values of these eminent personalities from the state.
“My hope and prayer is for us to make good use of this book, and also make it available to our younger ones, so that they will learn some lessons from it,” said Mr Radda.
The secretary to the state government, Abdullahi Garba-Faskari, said the book was an important document featuring over 100 eminent Katsina indigenes who had contributed to the development of the state, in particular, and the nation at large.
“It is an important document because it is inspirational and intended to bring about inspiration and motivation,” he said.
The reviewer of the book, Aliyu Rabiu-Kurfi, said that the book was more of a monument.
“As the state recently marked its 38th anniversary, this compendium stands as a testament to the collective striving of its people and their enduring capacity to inspire, lead, and be remembered.
“The 600-page book is both a mirror and a map. It reflects Katsina’s immense contributions while guiding future generations on the path to significance,” he said.
