Abasi Ita, Calabar
The Commissioner in charge of the Ministry of Women Affairs in Cross River State, Gertrude Njar has been kidnapped by armed bandits in Calabar, the state capital city
Sources confided in Summit Post that the commissioner was kidnapped earlier today along Mayne Avenue by Atumunu street in
Calabar South axis of the metropolis.
Security operatives attempting to track the perpetrators however discovered the shoes worn by the commissioner along the creeks leading to Calabar River
This discovery according to security personnel is suggestive of the fact that she has been whisked away across the high sea to the mangrove forest long suspected as a notorious den for kidnappers operating between Akwa Ibom and Cross River
The latest incident, barely 48 hours after one Kenneth Abang was whisked away by kidnappers along the Akamkpa Biase axis of the Calabar Ikom highway on his way to his late father’s obsequies in Boki, Cross River Central signals the return of the kidnapping syndicate which has gone underground after the kidnap of the former Accountant General of the State in November last year
Attempts to get the Police Public Relations Officer of the State Police Command,ASP Irene Ugbo were unsuccessful as her phone line was perpetually engaged at the time of filing this report
