The House of Representatives Member for Calabar Municipality/Odukpani federal constituency, Ntufam Eta Mbora, has stressed that reclaiming Cross River from the shackles of retrogression and wanton pilfering of state resources by Ayade and his cohorts constitutes the ultimate goal of the People Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
Mbora, who bore his mind while exchanging views with journalists in Calabar, on Sunday, stated that “allowing Ayade to produce a successor under the “Back to South” gimmick is tantamount to pushing the State down the cliff, warning that no one, interested in the development of the State and the well-being of its citizens should be cajoled by such parochial ethnic bait capable of extending the prevailing devastation in our state.
“It’s regrettable in this modern age when competent and capacity have become the norms for leadership aspirations, some selfish people bend on perpetuating the current shenanigans crippling our state are busy promoting ethnic slogans as the basis for political power, we must not fall into this booby trap.
“I am focused and committed to joining hands with other stakeholders of the PDP to guarantee the victory of PDP, to save our state from a government without human face nor sympathy.
“We can’t continue to watch the retrogression in our public service, health sector, education, agriculture, security, and virtually all aspects of our endeavor orchestrated by the spineless and tactless administration.
He stated “we in PDP can not be deterred by the unsavory outcome of the last Presidential and National Assembly Elections, which went contrary to our projections. I am therefore imploring all party faithful to brace up for the ultimate battle to reclaim our lost paradise from the current political banditry devastating our beloved state”
The federal lawmaker appealed to retirees, public and civil servants, traders, farmers, and all indigenes of the State subjected to various forms of deprivations under the self-centered administration of Ayade’s APC to come out in their numbers and vote out the common adversary.
“We can not slack now and permit the current evils in our State to continue in disguise. The People Democratic Party has the capacity, cohesion, antecedents, and humane posture to restore our lost glory. Our track record speaks volumes”, Mbora says.
The race to the Peregrino House which is the official residence of the Governor of Cross River State is seen by analysts as a two-horse race between Senator Sandy Onor of the People Democratic Party, PDP, and Senator Bassey Otu of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
While the campaign structure of the PDP revolves around the capacity, competent, experience and intellectual acumen of Senator Onor, a Professor of History from the University of Calabar and current Senator for Cross River Central, the APC in Cross River has continued to dwell on the “Back to South” mantra in canvassing for support for its governorship flag bearer.
