Travelers heading to Heathrow Airport on Monday, faced delays on the M4 after a vehicle caught fire in a tunnel near the airport.
The incident, which occurred just before 3 a.m., led to partial restrictions on the road to Terminals 2 and 3.
Authorities, including the London Fire Brigade, responded quickly to the fire, which involved a diesel-powered vehicle.
The fire was put out, and no injuries were reported.
By 9 a.m., the affected roads were reopened, but congestion around the airport continued, with long queues reported on the M4, M4 Spur, and A4.
National Highways East confirmed that the M4 southbound spur had reopened, but advised travelers to allow extra time for their journeys due to ongoing delays.
The airport also recommended using public transportation if possible to avoid the traffic buildup.
Despite the disruption, some passengers shared their experiences on social media.
While one traveler described the situation as chaotic, another reported a smooth journey from Terminal 5 to Terminal 3 with no delays.
