Carrick Joins Elite League as He Gets Nominated for EPL Manager Award

Manchester United caretaker manager Michael Carrick has been shortlisted for the Premier League Manager of the Season award after an impressive spell in charge at Old Trafford.

As reported by BBC Sport on Thursday, Carrick was named among six nominees for the award alongside Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta and Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, who are both battling for the Premier League title.

Also shortlisted are Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola, Brentford manager Keith Andrews and Sunderland coach Régis Le Bris.

The former Manchester United midfielder took over on an interim basis in January following the departure of Ruben Amorim and has since overseen a remarkable improvement in the club’s performances.

Under Carrick, United have climbed from seventh position into the top three and secured qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League.

Reports show that no Premier League club has earned more points than Manchester United since Carrick’s appointment on January 13, with the team collecting 33 points during that period.

The 44-year-old has won 66.7 per cent of his matches in charge, increasing speculation that he could be handed the role permanently.

Meanwhile, Arsenal trio David Raya, Gabriel, and Declan Rice were shortlisted for the Premier League Player of the Season award alongside Manchester City striker Erling Haaland and winger Antoine Semenyo.

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes, Brentford striker Igor Thiago, and Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White also made the shortlist.

In the Young Player of the Season category, Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo, Newcastle defender Lewis Hall, and West Ham midfielder Mateus Fernandes were among the nominees.

The winners of the awards will be decided through a combination of public voting and selections by a panel of football experts.
