Chelsea Women’s Manager Sonia Bompastor Reveals 13-Year Secret Relationship with Assistant Coach Camille Abily
Chelsea Women’s manager Sonia Bompastor has made a shocking revelation about her personal life, admitting to a 13-year secret relationship with her assistant coach and former teammate Camille Abily.
The French duo, who have been romantically involved since their playing days, shared their story in Bompastor’s autobiography, “A Life of Football,” released in France on Wednesday.
Bompastor, who joined Chelsea with an impressive track record from her time managing Lyon, brought Abily along as part of her coaching staff.

The pair had previously played together at Lyon, forming a strong bond that later translated into coaching success.
In an interview with L’Equipe, Bompastor expressed the burden of keeping their relationship private for so many years.
“Revealing my life together with Camille, our couple, after – as I say in the book – these thirteen years of lying, is still a subject on which today we are not entirely comfortable,” she said.
The couple, who share four children aged between three and nine, had kept their relationship hidden from the public eye.
However, they have now decided to open up about their personal lives, citing the weight of keeping their secret for so long.
Abily added, “There is modesty, self-acceptance. Then, we were still two well-known players. We were already associated a lot on a lot of things. These are not subjects that I necessarily like to discuss.”
Bompastor and Abily’s relationship has not affected their professional success, as they have continued Chelsea’s legacy of dominance in English women’s football. Under their leadership, the Blues have maintained an unbeaten record across all competitions this season.
The pair will now focus on their upcoming fixtures, including the League Cup final against Manchester City next month.
