China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs formally received the copies of credentials from Nigeria’s newly-appointed Ambassador to China, Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau, on Thursday, May 29, 2026.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, Assistant Foreign Minister and Director-General of the Protocol Department Hong Lei “accepted respectively the copies of credentials presented by newly-appointed Ambassador of Nigeria to China Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau.”
The MFA stated that Ambassador Dambazau “arrived in China on May 23” ahead of the credentials ceremony. The presentation of credentials to the Protocol Department is the standard diplomatic step that allows a newly posted envoy to begin official duties before formally presenting letters of credence to the Chinese head of state.
The event took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, People’s Republic of China, located at 2 Chaoyangmen Nandajie, Chaoyang District, Beijing, 100701.
