The “Chinese Bridge” competition, a prestigious event that connects China with the world, has been held in the Nigerian capita, Abuja.
The competition is aimed at providing a platform for college students to showcase their Chinese language skills and immerse themselves in Chinese culture. The successful organization of the Nigerian finals is attributed to the dedication and hard work of various leaders, teachers, and staff.
According to Zhao Hongling, Dean of the Confucius Institute at the University of Lagos, “The competition emphasises that hard work leads to success in learning Chinese, regardless of when one starts.”
He expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the organizers and wished the participants the best, hoping for a successful competition.
Also speaking virtually, Yu Zhangbao, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Nigeria, expressed his gratitude to the organizers and acknowledged the competition’s role in inspiring young people to learn Chinese and understand Chinese culture. He believes that the collective efforts will lead to further progress and wished the contestants excellent results.
The competition aims to boost participants’ enthusiasm for learning Chinese and deepen their cultural understanding. It is a significant event that highlights the importance of language and cultural exchange between China and Nigeria.
After a series of excellent displays, Zhengui emerged winner of the competition while Zhou Wenjing and Qi Siheng came second, with Shen Moli, Chen Peixi, and Tian Jie placing third.
The winner of the contest will have the opportunity to travel to China and compete in the global “Chinese Bridge” competition.
Notably, a Nigerian scholar emerged as the winner of the competition in the African category last year, confirming the growing interest and success of Nigerians in the Chinese language.
“Chinese Bridge” is a symbol of cultural exchange and language proficiency, and its successful organization in Nigeria is a testament to the growing interest in Chinese language and culture among Nigerian students. The competition is expected to be a resounding success, with participants showcasing their skills and style.
The “23rd Chinese Bridge-Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students,” elicited excitement amongst participants. The event was a celebration of language, culture, and exchange, fostering stronger ties between China and Nigeria.
