The Taraba State Command of the Nigeria Police Force says it has deployed about five thousand of its personnel to various locations to ensure a peaceful Christmas celebration across the state.
The Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Usman Abdullahi Jada disclosed this in an interview with our reporter through a telephone in Jalingo.
He said the State Commissioner of Police, CP Abimbola Sokoya has mandated his Deputy, operations to act and ensure that people celebrate Christmas and the New year without any hitches.
He explained that a secular had already been sent to all Area Divisions across the state for them to also ensure that they provide adequate security at the Churches and other places for a successful celebration.
SP Usman Abdullahi also revealed that the command has banned the use of knock-out and other explosive devices, adding that anybody caught up with such things will be punished by the law.
He advised the Christian faithful not to joke with this momentous season, but to ensure that they strengthen their relationship with their Lord and pray for the peaceful coexistence of the state as well as the nation at large.
The PPRO further called on the youths to desist from any act that could lead to violence including drug abuse among others.
He advised the people of the state to also avoid disclosing their destinations on social media while traveling, as well as be security conscious, noting that this is a period that strangers will be trooping in.
However, SP Usman Abdullahi Jada delivered a Christmas message from the Taraba State Commissioner of Police, CP Abimbola Sokoya to the Christian faithful in the state where he wishes them a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New year in advance.
