A Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed a lawsuit challenging the appointments made by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the leadership of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
The court ruled on Tuesday that the case lacked merit.
The suit was filed by Hon. Ajoku Philip, Chief Jones Omereoha, and the Kingdom Human Rights Foundation International, representing themselves and residents of oil-producing communities in Imo State.
The plaintiffs contested the appointments of Dr. Samuel Ogbuku as Director-General, Mr. Bona Iyaye, and Mr. Victor Antai as Executive Directors.
They claimed that these appointments violated the provisions of the NDDC Act.
The case, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1374/2023, named President Tinubu, the Attorney-General of the Federation, the National Assembly, and the NDDC as defendants.
In his judgment, Justice James Omotosho concluded that the plaintiffs’ arguments were insufficient and ordered the case to be dismissed.
