The Commissioner of Police in Cross River State, Rashid B. Afegbua, has decorated 458 newly promoted police corporals and charged them to uphold professionalism, discipline and dedication in the discharge of their duties.
The decoration ceremony, held at the Command Headquarters in Calabar on Tuesday, saw the officers formally elevated from the rank of constable to corporal.
Speaking during the event, CP Afegbua congratulated the newly promoted personnel and reminded them that their new rank comes with greater responsibilities. He urged them to remain committed to effective service delivery and to uphold the core values of the Nigeria Police Force.
According to the police commissioner, the promotion exercise reflects the commitment of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, to improving personnel welfare and rewarding officers who have demonstrated diligence, dedication and outstanding service.
He stressed the need for the officers to maintain high standards of integrity, professionalism and discipline while carrying out their responsibilities.
Responding on behalf of the promoted officers, one of the newly decorated corporals expressed gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police, the Police Management Team and the commissioner of police for the promotion.
The officer assured the police leadership of the beneficiaries’ continued loyalty, commitment and dedication to duty.
