Nigerian Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, is scheduled to perform at the Crystal Palace Bowl in London on Friday, August 14, as concerns continue to grow over violence ahead of the Osun State governorship election.
The singer will headline the ‘Davido & Friends’ concert, organised under the Palace Bowl Presents summer festival series in the United Kingdom.
Davido had earlier announced the event on his social media platforms, describing it as his first festival appearance in the UK and his only outdoor performance in London this summer.
Other artistes billed to perform at the concert include Omah Lay, Black Sherif, Gabzy, T x C, Jazzwrld & Thukuthela, Ecool, Morravey and Boi Chase.
According to the official Palace Bowl Presents website, the event is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m., with the concert expected to end around 10:30 p.m.
Ahead of the performance, Davido shared promotional artwork for the show on his Instagram Story on Wednesday. The artwork carried a ‘SOLD OUT’ banner, signalling that tickets for the event had been fully taken.
The concert comes shortly after Davido appealed to U.S. President Donald Trump to pay attention to the security situation in Osun State ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the singer urged Trump to take note of concerns over possible violence, intimidation and disruption of the electoral process.
Davido said the people of Osun should be allowed to exercise their constitutional right to vote peacefully and without fear.
The singer is related to Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, who is seeking re-election in the August 15 governorship poll.
