Snoop Dogg’s Death Row Records Set To Launch Its Own Cannabis Brand

In February 2022, Snoop Dogg acquired Death Row Records.

As previously reported by AfroTech, the rapper and serial entrepreneur went from initially signing to the label to owning it.

“I am thrilled and appreciative of the opportunity to acquire the iconic and culturally significant Death Row Records brand, which has immense untapped future value,” the 50-year-old Snoop Dogg told NPR at the time. “It feels good to have ownership of the label I was part of at the beginning of my career and as one of the founding members. This is an extremely meaningful moment for me.”

Now, Snoop Dogg’s label officially has its own cannabis brand.

On Dec. 29, Death Row Records announced its first cannabis drop, according to a press release shared with AfroTech.

Coming in January 2023, the first drop is set to be in “limited edition commemorative metallic bags, featuring the iconic hooded prisoner figure seated in an electric chair on the front,” the press release details.

Behind Death Row’s cannabis brand is AK, Snoop Dogg’s collaborator, and well-known West Coast cannabis grower.

Per the press release, he was the former partner at WizardTrees, where he worked in growing strains such as the RS11, Studio 54, and Shirazi from exotic cannabis breeder DEO.

What’s more, AK is known for his brand SMKRS and is VP of Cultivation for TRP LLC.

While the cannabis drop is upcoming, Death Row Records plans to announce details of the exact date and locations.

Additionally, select Cookies California stores across Brentwood, San Bernardino, and San Diego are set to be the debut locations. More locations are to come after.

Snoop Dogg has been involved in multiple cannabis endeavors.

As previously reported by AfroTech, he filed a trademark to bring virtual cannabis to the metaverse. He also tapped into digital weed farms with MOBLAND.

“If it’s flipping hamburgers at McDonald’s, be the best hamburger flipper in the world. Whatever it is you do you have to master your craft. I have been mastering my craft for decades. My son showed me the importance of collaboration with MOBLAND to introduce the first-ever digital weed farms as NFTs,” Snoop Dogg said in a press release. “There is a paradigm shift happening here and I want to be at the forefront of this.”
