The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has officially approved three aspirants to participate in its forthcoming presidential primary election scheduled for May 25, 2026.

‎Those cleared by the party include Dr. Nnaoke Ufere from Abia State, Engr. (Dr.) Yakubu Mohammed Kingsley from Edo State, and former Cross River State Governor, Donald Duke.
‎
‎In a statement issued on Saturday, the PRP National Publicity Secretary, Muhammed Ishaq, confirmed that all approved aspirants have agreed to abide by the outcome of the party’s decision-making process during the nationwide primary exercise.
‎
‎He added that the party remains committed to conducting a transparent, credible, and inclusive primary election, noting that more than 260 aspirants are expected to contest various positions under the party’s platform.
‎
‎According to him, the PRP leadership is focused on strengthening internal democracy and ensuring fairness across all stages of the primaries.
‎
‎He further explained that where consensus cannot be reached among aspirants, the party will proceed with competitive primaries in line with its constitution and guidelines.
‎
‎The upcoming presidential primary is expected to serve as a major test of the party’s organisational strength and preparedness ahead of the 2026 general elections.
