Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar on Friday visited former Kano State Governor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, at his Maitama residence in Abuja.
The meeting, which took place shortly after the Jumu’ah prayers, was confirmed by Kwankwaso’s media aide, Saifullahi Hassan.
He said the two ADC leaders exchanged pleasantries and held private discussions.
Although details of the talks were not disclosed, the encounter comes at a time when opposition figures are weighing strategies ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The visit is coming days after Atiku appeared on ARISE Television where he dismissed suggestions that Kwankwaso could eclipse him politically in the north.
In that interview, Atiku maintained that he remained “more popular than Kwankwaso in the North”, citing his long-standing political network and influence across the region.
Since that utterance of his on the national television, supporters of Kwankwaso have dragged him, vehemently stating the irrelavance of such outburst during interview.
Meanwhile, Political observers are closely watching interactions between major opposition figures as the 2027 election cycle approaches, with both Atiku and Kwankwaso yet to declare their formal intentions.
