The governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has appointed Rt. Hon. Edison Ehie, the former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, as the new Chief of Staff.
According to Leadership, this decision follows Ehie’s resignation from the position of Speaker and his subsequent vacating of the seat representing Ahoada-East Constituency 2 in the Rivers State House of Assembly.
Ehie’s appointment comes as a replacement for the former Chief of Staff, Hon. Chidi Amadi, who is affiliated with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Ezenwo Wike.
Notably, a peace meeting held at the request of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu acknowledged Rt. Hon. Martins Amaewhule as the Speaker of the House. However, it did not address Ehie’s resignation from his seat as a member of the House.
The appointment of Edison Ehie as Chief of Staff marks a significant change in the leadership structure of Rivers State, with his experience as the former Speaker bringing a wealth of legislative and administrative expertise to the position.
This move is poised to have implications for the political landscape of the state, as Ehie takes on a new role in the governor’s administration, potentially impacting the dynamics within the State House of Assembly and the broader governance of Rivers State.
