The National President of the Volunteer Media Advocacy for Accountable Leadership, Sir Augustine Aminu, KSM, has commended the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ola Olukoyode, for his transparent leadership style and unwavering determination to reposition the Commission as Africa’s foremost—and a global reference point—in the fight against economic and financial crimes.
In a statement issued on Tuesday and signed by the Country Director of Mobilization, Joseph C.Ezejiegu, the advocacy group described Mr. Olukoyode’s stewardship as “a clear departure from opacity to openness,” noting that his commitment to accountability, professionalism, and public engagement has strengthened public confidence in the EFCC.
According to the statement, the EFCC Chairman has consistently demonstrated courage and integrity in pursuing high-profile investigations without fear or favour, while ensuring due process and respect for the rule of law. The group praised his emphasis on institutional reforms, capacity building, and collaboration with both local and international partners as critical steps toward elevating the Commission’s effectiveness.
“Mr. Olukoyode’s transparent communication with Nigerians and his readiness to subject the EFCC’s operations to public scrutiny reflect a deep understanding of democratic accountability,” the statement read. “This approach not only enhances trust but also signals a renewed resolve to confront corruption decisively.”
The Volunteer Media Advocacy for Accountable Leadership further noted that the EFCC under Mr. Olukoyode has shown renewed vigour in intelligence-led investigations, asset recovery, and preventive measures, positioning Nigeria as a serious player in the global anti-corruption community.
Sir Augustine Aminu urged stakeholders, civil society organisations, and the media to support the EFCC Chairman’s reform agenda, stressing that collective responsibility is essential to winning the fight against economic and financial crimes.
The statement concluded by reaffirming the group’s support for Mr. Olukoyode’s vision to make the EFCC “the number one economic and financial crime-fighting institution in Africa and a respected force worldwide,” adding that sustained transparency and accountability remain key to achieving that goal.
