EFCC Uncovers Alleged N68m Visa Fraud, Arrests 2 Suspects in Enugu

Operatives of the Enugu Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested the Chief Executive Officer of Goodben Global Travels and Tour Limited, Chukwujindu Goodness Nchekwube, and a suspected fraudster, Rogers Oluwaseyi Eruku, also known as Bakary Rogers Yanni, over an alleged N68.02 million visa fraud.

The anti-graft agency, in a statement by its spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, disclosed that the suspects allegedly defrauded at least 24 victims under the guise of processing work visas to various foreign countries.

According to a statement issued on Sunday by the EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, the arrests followed petitions from victims who accused the suspects of collecting large sums of money for visa processing but allegedly issuing forged documents.

One of the petitioners, James Ikechukwu, alleged that Nchekwube introduced herself as a visa consultant capable of facilitating work visas through her company, Goodben Global Travels and Tour Limited.

He claimed that between September 2024 and December 2025, he engaged the company to process work visas for 20 of his clients and transferred a total of N57.62 million into the company’s accounts for the exercise.

According to him, Nchekwube promised to secure and deliver the visas within an agreed timeframe but failed to do so after receiving the funds.

“After receiving the money, Mrs Nchekwube allegedly refused to deliver the visas as agreed and converted the funds to personal use. Following persistent demands, she eventually provided some visas and offer letters to a number of the clients, but it was later discovered that the documents were forged,” the petitioner alleged.

During investigations, Nchekwube reportedly told EFCC operatives that she handed over the money to Eruku, whom she described as a trusted agent capable of procuring visas to several destinations across the world.

She further claimed that the forged visas and offer letters were supplied by Eruku.

In a related development, another petitioner, Oranezi David Chinedu, accused Eruku of collecting money from him and three of his friends for the processing of work visas to Ireland and other countries.

Mr Chinedu alleged that Eruku received a total of N10.4 million from them but subsequently provided forged visa-related documents.

“I was highly disappointed that after collecting money for visa processing, he issued me and my friends fake documents,” he alleged.

The EFCC said investigations into the matter are ongoing and that the suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of inquiries.

The commission reiterated its commitment to tackling visa-related fraud and warned members of the public to exercise caution when dealing with travel agents and immigration consultants.
