Ex-Gov Lamido’s Son Picks Jigawa PDP Governorship Form

Mustapha Sule Lamido has formally entered the race for the Jigawa State governorship after picking the Peoples Democratic Party nomination form.

The former PDP governorship candidate in the 2023 general election submitted the form to the Jigawa State PDP Working Committee and other party stakeholders on Tuesday for their endorsement.

Speaking shortly after collecting the form and meeting with stakeholders on Tuesday in Dutse, the state capital, Lamido said he had completed all consultations and was now seeking the party’s approval to fly its flag in the 2027 election.

“We are PDP card-carrying members, and we believe in our party’s philosophy, strength, and resilience to tackle its internal challenges,” he told the gathering of party leaders and supporters.

He expressed confidence that the PDP remains the only platform capable of solving Jigawa’s pressing problems if given another opportunity to govern.

“We have confidence in our party, and we believe the people of Jigawa and Nigerians believe in it as well,” Lamido said, stressing that public trust in the PDP was still intact.

According to him, no other political party has matched the PDP’s record of delivering projects and programmes that directly improve people’s lives.

He argued that parties which came to power after the PDP had failed to meet expectations across the board.

“All other political parties that got power after the PDP have failed woefully,” he said, pointing to what he described as poor leadership at the national level.

Lamido added that instead of addressing the country’s social, economic, and security challenges, the current administration had worsened them.

He accused rival parties of aggravating the situation through weak and ineffective policies since taking over from the PDP.

The governorship hopeful appealed to PDP members in Jigawa to rally behind him ahead of the 2027 polls.

He assured stakeholders that he would continue to promote the party’s core values of patriotism and service to humanity throughout his campaign.

Lamido, son of former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido, said his bid was driven by a desire to restore effective governance and rebuild public confidence in leadership.
