A former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, has lost bid to secure the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket to contest the 2027 governorship in Bauchi State.
Mr Tuggar resigned from President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet on March 31, 2026, to pursue his governorship ambition in the state.
Announcing the results on Saturday, the chairman of the party’s governorship election committee, John Abang, declared a former governor of the state, Mohammed Abubakar, winner of the primary poll.
Mr Abubakar polled 57,517 votes, while Mr Tuggar secured 26,001 votes. Bala Maijama’a A. Wunti came third with 13,648 votes.
Other aspirants included Nura Manu Soro, who secured 13,638 votes; Kabir Baba Ma’aji got 8,157 votes; Baba Abubakar Suleiman, polled 7,688 votes; and Yakubu Yakubu Abdullahi, secured 7,181 votes.
