The State House and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) have informed the House of Representatives that documents presented to justify the creation and activities of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) were fraudulent.
State House Director of Administration, Abdullahi Idris, made the disclosure on Thursday during a public hearing by the House Ad hoc Committee investigating the establishment and operations of the council in Abuja.
Idris told lawmakers that letters purportedly issued by the State House and requesting budget codes from the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation and the Budget Office were forged. The documents, which were signed in the name of Akanbi Adewale as Director of Administration and Support Services, were described as fake.
He explained that there is no department known as “Administration and Support Services” within the State House and added that a review of records dating back to 2003 showed that no person named Akanbi Adewale had ever served as Director of Administration.
Meanwhile, the Corps Marshal of the FRSC, Shehu Idris, confirmed that the agency issued seven government number plates to the council. He said the PFIPC submitted documents required for the process, including its establishment documents, office address and other supporting papers.
The committee chairman, Yusuf Gagdi (APC, Plateau), cautioned government institutions to be more vigilant in verifying documents and identities to prevent individuals from using their names for fraudulent activities.
Gagdi later adjourned the investigation until Thursday, noting that all persons and agencies connected to the matter would be invited for a direct confrontation and clarification.
