The Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) has been rated as being at the forefront of the implementation of the Employee Performance Management System (EPMS) in the Nigerian Public Service.
PMS consultant from Zohor, Mrs Titi Akisanya, made this known during an PMS appraisal session with FERMA management at the agency’s headquarters on Thursday 26th September, 2024, a statement issued late Friday by FERMA’s head, Information and Public Relations, Mrs Maryam Sanusi, had disclosed.
The PMS, which is one of the 6 Pillars of the Federal Civil Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021-2025 (FCSSIP25), has been at the centre of government reforms in recent years as an integral modern tool for planning, management, budgeting, and improving accountability, described as a pace-setting system that distinguishes serious and forward-looking organisations aspiring to reach the pinnacle in a 21st century competitive world.
Since its launch by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF), PMS has remained a priority of the federal government.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer(MD/CEO), Engr Chukwuemeka Agbasi, and other PMS stakeholders in the agency have worked assiduously over the past 18 months to position the Agency as one of the foremost institutions implementing management system in the public service.
According to him, the FERMA has since keyed into the Performance Management Reform Initiative to support the actualisation of the current Administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
This, he said, has led to some significant gains as the Agency has not only ensured over 97% of its staff have Employee Performance Contract (EPC) prepared and signed with their immediate supervisors, but has successfully completed the implementation of the Performance Management Cycle (PMC).
The MD reiterated the leadership’s commitment to build on the gains of the PMS Initiative and entrench a Culture of Performance Management in the Agency.
The statement noted that the completion of the FERMA 2023 Performance Appraisal Closeout underpinned the 2024 promotion exercise which was driven by the new PMS, positioning the agency as one of the leading organisations implementing the new OHCSF PMS practices end-to-end in Nigeria.
