The federal government of Nigeria, on Friday, renamed some Airports, after prominent Nigerians. The list included some Nigerians, who have served the country in various capacities.
The gesture is in recognition of their individual contribution to the development of the nation in different sectors, the ministry of Aviation statement, signed by by Odutayo Olusegun, Head. Press and Public Affairs, says.
Also, President Muhammadu Buhari approved the constitution of Boards for the Agencies which are mostly institutional representations.
Prominent Nigerians, living or dead, who made the list are the late sage and first Premier of Western Region, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, who had Port Harcourt International airport named after him. Also, the Ebonyi International airport was named after the
second President of the Nigerian senate in the fourth republics, Chuba Wilberforce Okadigbo.
The list as sighted by SUMMIT POST, consists of prominent traditional rulers, politicians etc.
