FIFA Best Awards: Dembélé, Bonmatí, Donnarumma, Hampton Win Big

The 2025 FIFA Best Awards saw Paris Saint-Germain and France forward Ousmane Dembélé complete a remarkable double by winning FIFA Best Men’s Player of the Year.

Gianluigi Donnarumma, Aitana Bonmatí and Hannah Hampton also claimed top honours.

The awards were held on Tuesday, December 16, in Qatar, with FIFA crowning the world’s best players for their fantastic individual performances over the year.

French forward Ousmane Dembélé was named FIFA Best Men’s Player of 2025, joining several world-class players on the nominations list, including Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, Mohamed Salah, Lautaro Martínez, Vitinha, and more.

The latest recognition comes after the former Barcelona player won the 2025 Ballon d’Or in September, an accolade earned after a dominant season.

Dembélé finished ahead of the likes of Kylian Mbappé, Mohamed Salah, Lamine Yamal, and Raphinha to secure the honour. The Frenchman was instrumental in Paris Saint-Germain’s historic campaign, helping the club secure multiple trophies, including their first-ever UEFA Champions League title.

Spanish international and Barcelona Femení star Aitana Bonmatí secured yet another major honour after being named FIFA Best Women’s Player of the Year, following an outstanding season. The award marks her third consecutive win and completes a remarkable double for the year, having also claimed the Ballon d’Or Féminin in September.

Bonmatí was joined on the shortlist by several world-class players, including Temwa Chawinga, Kadidiatou Diani, Chloe Kelly, Alexia Putellas, Alessia Russo, and others.

Manchester City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma was named FIFA Men’s Goalkeeper of the Year following an outstanding season at PSG before he departed from the club.

The Italian shot-stopper was a key figure under Luis Enrique, and he was shortlisted alongside Alisson, Thibaut Courtois, David Raya, Manuel Neuer, and others.

Chelsea’s Hannah Hampton won the Best Women’s Goalkeeper award after an impressive year that included lifting the Women’s Super League title with Chelsea.

The 25-year-old also played a crucial role for England’s Lionesses during their Euro 2025 victory over Spain. She edged out competition from nominees such as Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, Christiane Endler, Phallon Tullis-Joyce and others.

England manager Sarina Wiegman was named Best FIFA Women’s Coach 2025, claiming the award for the fifth time since 2017 after guiding the Lionesses to the Euro 2025 title.

Paris Saint-Germain boss Luis Enrique was crowned Best FIFA Men’s Coach of the Year following the club’s triumphant 2024–25 campaign, which ended a long wait for European success after seven previous managers failed to deliver continental glory.

Santiago Montiel of Club Atlético Independiente won the Puskás Award for the best goal in men’s football after scoring a stunning overhead kick against Independiente Rivadavia in May. He beat top nominees such as Declan Rice and Lamine Yamal. Meanwhile, Lizbeth Ovalle claimed the Marta Award for the best goal in women’s football.
