According to a statement by the Ogun State spokesperson of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Afolabi Odunsi-Oyewole, the passengers included six adult males, 11 adult females, one male child, and two female children.

He explained that five occupants lost their lives in the incident—made up of one adult male, two adult females, one male child, and one female child—while 10 others suffered varying degrees of injuries. Five passengers reportedly escaped without harm.

Preliminary findings by the FRSC attributed the crash to excessive speeding and overloading.

The injured victims were taken to the General Hospital, Ifo, and Oreofe Specialist Hospital, Itori, for medical attention. The bodies of the deceased were deposited at the General Hospital morgue in Ifo.

The Ogun State FRSC Sector Commander, Oludare Ogunjobi, expressed condolences to the families of the victims and warned motorists against speeding, overloading, and other traffic violations, especially during high-travel periods.
