French President Macron Warns of ‘Grave Consequences’ from US-Iran-Israel Conflict, Calls for UN Emergency Session

By Achile Danjuma

French President Emmanuel Macron has issued a stark warning that the escalating military conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran poses a severe threat to international peace and security, urging immediate diplomatic intervention to avert a wider regional war.

In a statement posted on X on Saturday, Macron characterized the developing hostilities as a critical moment with potentially far-reaching global implications. He confirmed that France is taking precautionary measures to protect its citizens and national interests in the region.

“The outbreak of war between the United States, Israel, and Iran carries grave consequences for international peace and security,” Macron stated. He added that French authorities are implementing all necessary steps to ensure the protection of France’s territory, its nationals abroad, and its strategic interests across the Middle East.

The French leader also signaled France’s readiness to support allied nations, noting that Paris is prepared to deploy appropriate resources to assist its closest partners amid the growing instability.

Macron warned that the current escalation could destabilize the entire region if urgent action is not taken. “The ongoing escalation is dangerous for all. It must stop,” he said, calling on Iran to engage constructively in negotiations regarding its nuclear and ballistic missile programs, as well as what he described as its regional destabilization activities.

“This is absolutely necessary for the security of all in the Middle East,” he stressed.

The French president further criticized the Iranian leadership, alleging that “the massacres committed by the Islamic regime disqualify it and demand that the voice be returned to the people. The sooner, the better.” He argued that renewed diplomatic engagement is essential for guaranteeing long-term security and asserted that the Iranian people must be allowed to freely determine their future.

As part of France’s diplomatic response, Macron announced that Paris is pushing for an emergency session of the United Nations Security Council to address the crisis. He revealed that he remains in close consultation with European allies and partners across the Middle East as international efforts intensify to prevent further deterioration.

The French statement comes amid heightened global concern following the announcement of major military operations by the United States. President Donald Trump declared that the U.S. military has begun “major combat operations” against Iran, warning Tehran’s leaders that they face either total surrender or “certain death.”

Trump outlined an aggressive campaign aimed at neutralizing Iran’s nuclear program, dismantling its missile capabilities, and ending what he described as the regime’s decades-long campaign of global terrorism. He repeatedly referred to Iran as a “wicked, radical dictatorship.”

In response, Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the actions of the United States and Israel—referred to in its statement as the “Zionist regime”—as “criminal military aggression.” Tehran has warned that its armed forces are fully prepared to respond with authority.
