Odunsi Afolabi, FRSC’s spokesman in Ogun, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday.

According to Mr Afolabi, the Ogun FRSC command conducted Phase II of its mobile court sitting at the Itori unit command, resulting in the conviction of 20 motorists for various traffic violations.

Mr Afolabi explained that the mobile court was presided over by chief magistrate O.T. Odunsaya, where the proceedings saw 20 offenders arraigned and convicted with no discharges recorded.

“A total of 40 offences were documented, in which 39 attracted various fines, and none were sentenced to imprisonment,” he said.

Mr Afolabi said that the enforcement operation focused on critical safety violations, including speed limit device violations and overloading, seatbelt and driver’s licence violations. Others were tyre, vehicle licence, and number plate violations, general vehicle maintenance, and related traffic infractions.

The Ogun sector commander, Akinwunmi Fasakin, who spoke during the session, restated that the exercise was a core component of the command’s sustained enforcement strategy.

Mr Fasakin noted that such mobile courts enhance operational visibility and ensure strict compliance with traffic regulations to reduce road traffic crashes across the state’s operational corridors.

He commended the peaceful and orderly conduct of the proceedings, noting that the exercise was supported by adequate security from armed personnel.

The sector commander urged motorists to prioritise safe driving practices and ensure proper vehicle documentation to prevent avoidable injuries and fatalities.

According to the FRSC, the measure serves as a deterrent to reckless driving and underscores the command’s commitment to prosecuting those who endanger the lives of Nigerians on the roads.
