Gov Alia’s Aide Resigns, Alleges One-Year of Unpaid Salary

The Principal Special Assistant to the Benue State Governor on Youth and Media Mobilisation, Terver Atu, has resigned from his position, citing personal reasons while later alleging that he was not paid for a year in office.
‎
‎In a resignation letter addressed to the Secretary to the State Government, Atu expressed appreciation to the governor for the opportunity to serve and announced that his resignation takes immediate effect.
‎
‎“I write with profound respect and gratitude to tender my resignation from my position as Special Assistant on Youth and Media Mobilisation, effective immediately.”
‎
‎He thanked the administration for the confidence reposed in him and wished the governor success in serving the people of Benue State.
‎
‎However, in a video shared shortly after making his resignation public, Atu claimed that he went for one year without receiving his salary. He also alleged that he was later demoted from the position of Principal Special Assistant to that of a Special Assistant.
‎
‎According to him, he left his job with Air Peace in Abuja after being invited by the governor to join the state government.
‎
‎Despite his grievances, Atu said he holds no resentment toward the governor, stressing that his respect for him remains intact.
‎
‎He also spoke about the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, describing him as “a good man.” Atu said Akume received him warmly despite the fact that he had criticised and spoken negatively about him in the past.
‎
‎His resignation comes shortly after he was seen in a photograph with the SGF, a development that has generated discussions on social media.
‎
‎The Benue State Government had not issued an official response to Atu’s resignation or the allegations at the time of this report.
