As part of his sustained efforts to consolidate peace and unity, Gov. Agbu Kefas initiated this intervention in fulfilment of the commitment he made after the November 2025 religious crisis in Donga.

The pledge was designed to ensure fairness, encourage reconciliation, and restore mutual trust among the affected communities.

Presenting the cheque on behalf of the Governor, the Permanent Secretary, Bureau for Local Government, Traditions and Chieftaincy Affairs, Engr. Godfrey Dame Andrew, described the intervention as another demonstration of Governor Kefas’ people-centred leadership and steadfast resolve to consolidate peace across Taraba State.

He noted that the Governor believes sustainable development can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace, mutual respect and unity, stressing that the administration remains committed to policies and actions that promote reconciliation, justice and equal opportunities for all citizens regardless of religious or ethnic affiliation.

According to him, the financial support goes beyond fulfilling a promise; it represents the Governor’s sincerity in restoring hope to affected communities and reinforcing the government’s determination to ensure that every segment of society enjoys the dividends of peace.

Receiving the intervention, leaders of the Christian community expressed deep appreciation to Gov Agbu Kefas for keeping faith with his commitment despite the passage of time. They described the gesture as a significant step towards healing the wounds of the past and strengthening confidence in government.

The beneficiaries also pledged to utilize the funds responsibly for initiatives that will advance peace, community development and harmonious coexistence, while reaffirming their resolve to continue promoting tolerance and unity among the people of Donga.

Since assuming office, Governor Agbu Kefas has consistently demonstrated that peace remains a cardinal pillar of his administration, implementing practical measures aimed at resolving conflicts, fostering dialogue and creating an enabling environment for sustainable development across Taraba State.
