Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has unveiled a comprehensive blueprint aimed at transforming the state’s urban and housing sectors, addressing critical challenges and fostering sustainable development.
The announcement was made during a two-day symposium themed “Modern Housing & Urban Development” held at the Glass House in Lokoja.
Representing the governor, Joseph Oluwasegun, Commissioner for Environment and Ecological Management, highlighted the administration’s commitment to enhancing the quality of life for residents through innovative housing solutions.
“The Ododo administration is resolute in its mission to provide affordable and sustainable housing for the people of Kogi State,” Oluwasegun said.
The symposium, organized to address pressing housing issues, brought together policymakers and stakeholders. Abanika Taiye, Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, represented by Dr. Zainab Obadaki, Permanent Secretary of the ministry, emphasized the program’s focus on social inclusion and environmental sustainability.
“The housing initiative will prioritize affordability while ensuring sustainable practices,” Obadaki stated.
Governor Ododo’s administration has also taken steps to resolve land disputes and combat environmental degradation, issues that have hindered development in the state. Economic Adviser Aliu Salami noted that the blueprint unveiled at the symposium would catalyze economic growth and infrastructure development.
The governor’s renewed focus on urban planning and housing is expected to drive significant progress in Kogi State, aligning with broader goals of economic and social advancement.
