Governor Dikko Radda has urged All Progressives Congress stakeholders to sustain grassroots mobilisation and ensure government programmes and achievements are effectively communicated to communities.
Mr Radda made the call on Tuesday at the inauguration of 1,080 grassroots mobilisers in Katsina to coordinate support for his administration ahead of the 2027 elections.
The mobilisers, drawn from the state’s 34 council areas, were inaugurated under the newly established ‘Dikko Mai da Alkhairi da Alkhairi’ movement.
Mr Radda, while inaugurating the movement, said the initiative was an offshoot of the state’s Community Development Programme, which attracted the World Bank’s attention because of its grassroots impact.
He said that a World Bank delegation that recently visited the state had expressed interest in adopting the Katsina CDP framework as a model for consideration in other states.
“This demonstrates the effectiveness of the programme in taking government interventions directly to communities and bridging the gap between government and the people. The CDP was established to serve residents irrespective of political affiliation, adding that government interventions should benefit communities across the state.
“The new movement is an expression of appreciation by people who had witnessed the impact of his administration’s programmes in their communities,” he said.
He commended the CDP members for their contributions to grassroots development, saying the programme has helped to strengthen communication between government and communities.
The governor also urged communities to take ownership of the administration’s Katsina Tree-Plant-One-T initiative, saying the state was targeting the planting of about two million trees within one year. He further commended the digitalisation of aspects of the CDP, saying it would enhance transparency, coordination and accountability while exposing young participants to leadership and technological skills.
