Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has sworn-in eight new commissioners as members of the state Executive Council.
The governor also sworn-in six new permanent secretaries, 11 new special advisers, a member, Nasarawa State Judicial Service Commission and a member, Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission, NASIEC.
Mr Sule, at the swearing-in on Wednesday in Lafia, urged them to key into his administration’s policies and programmes to drive development in the state.
The governor urged the new commissioners, special advisers, permanents secretaries and others to remain focused and discharge their duties without fear or favour.
Those sworn-in include: Dr Nawani Aboki, Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism; Dr Ashefo Paul, Commissioner for Lands, Survey and Physical Planning; Mr Baba Shehu, Commissioner for NGOs and Disaster Management, and Ahmed Yakubu, Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning.
Jibril Ibrahim is the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development; Mohammed Oyigye, Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security; Muhammad Habeeb-Nagogo, Commissioner for Tertiary and Technical Education and Mrs Rebecca Kpadji is the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development.
Mr Sule urged them to embrace his administration’s policy which anchors on accountability, transparency, and prudent management of resources.
He said that he rejigged his cabinet to strengthen governance and add value to the lives of the people of the state.
The governor further disclosed that the appointment of the new permanent secretaries was based on merit and quota system.
He appreciated the speaker of the State legislature, Dr Danladi Jatau and other members, for the screening and confirmation of the appointees, and for the effective synergy in the development of the state.
Earlier, the Secretary to the Government of Nasarawa State, Dr Labaran Magaji, said that the appointment was to strengthen governance and drive development in the state.
The SSG assured the governor of the total support and loyalty of all the political appointees.
Speaking on behalf of the newly sworn-in commissioners, the Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Dr Nawani Aboki, appreciated the governor for finding them worthy of the appointment.
He pledged their commitment and readiness to remain focused and discharge their duties without fear or favour.
The event had in attendance Dr Emmanuel Akabe, the State Deputy Governor; Dr Danladi Jatau, the Nasarawa state House Speaker; Justice Sidi Bage (Rtd), the Emir of Lafia; Justice Aisha Bashir-Aliyu, the Chief Judge of Nasarawa State; and the State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Dr Aliyu Bello.
