An APC grassroots political support group known as the Prince Is Coming Movement has intensified its mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections, announcing plans for a mega endorsement rally in support of Governor Bassey Otu and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The rally, scheduled for April 18 in Calabar, is expected to attract over 1.5 million supporters and will serve as a platform to formally endorse both leaders for a second term in office.
Speaking at a press conference at the APC Campaign Secretariat, the Chief of Staff to the Governor and leader of the movement, Emmanuel Ironbar, said the move was informed by what he described as the administration’s tangible achievements across key sectors.
He traced the origin of the movement to the political developments following the 2015 and 2019 elections, noting that it evolved from a group of loyalists determined to uphold what they believed to be the people’s mandate. Despite early challenges, he said the group remained steadfast, culminating in Otu’s emergence as governor.
Ironbar highlighted ongoing infrastructure projects, particularly road construction, alongside improvements in healthcare, education, youth empowerment and job creation. He also pointed to increased federal presence, including the Lagos Calabar Coastal Highway and the proposed deep seaport, as signs of strengthened collaboration with the federal government.
The movement reaffirmed its support for President Tinubu, urging Nigerians to sustain the current administration in order to consolidate ongoing reforms and development efforts.
Also speaking, the Secretary of the movement and Special Adviser to the Governor on General Duties, Ekpenyong Akiba, described the rally as a significant political statement that reflects growing grassroots support. He added that it could shape the state’s political landscape ahead of future elections.
Organisers said a Central Planning Committee has been set up to coordinate the event, with sub committees handling mobilisation, security, welfare, finance and media. The rally is expected to draw participants from across the state and beyond.
The group called on residents, including members of opposition parties, to participate in the rally, expressing confidence that the turnout would reinforce its position and support continuity in governance.
