The Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Bayo Lawal, has described the Ibadan circular road project as a deliberate, visionary masterplan designed to avoid planning failures and secure the state’s future.
Mr Lawal stated this at the inauguration of the newly constructed chairman’s office at the Egbeda Local Government Secretariat on Friday in Ibadan.
He said every major development comes with collateral effects on individual properties in the overriding public interest, assuring that all persons affected by the Circular Road project would be duly compensated.
“The circular road is not an accidental project. It is a deliberate, visionary masterplan to prevent the kind of planning failures we see in other cities and to secure the future for Oyo State,” he said.
According to Mr Lawal, Egbeda Local Government Area is strategically positioned at the centre of major development corridors, including the 110km Circular Road.
He added that its location gives it enormous prospects for the overall development of the state.
In his remarks, the chairman of Egbeda Local Government, Sikiru Sanda, appreciated Governor Seyi Makinde for giving local government chairmen the platform to be functional and deliver on their mandates.
Mr Sanda said the new chairman’s office was funded solely by the local government’s internally generated revenue.
He assured residents that his administration would continue to serve and deliver more dividends of democracy until the end of its tenure.
