The police say security measures will be strengthened after terrorists killed 10 officers in the Sakaba council area of Kebbi. The attack occurred on Monday along the Rafin Makuku. This was disclosed by Ani Iniedu, the force spokesperson, in a statement on Thursday.
The inspector-general of police, Olatunji Disu, on Tuesday deployed a delegation led by the deputy inspector-general of police, Umar Nadada, to the state to engage with the Kebbi government.
The engagement includes other relevant stakeholders on the security situation to reinforce ongoing efforts, prevent further attacks, protect vulnerable communities, and restore lasting peace in the affected areas.eas.
“The IGP has directed that all available operational and intelligence resources be brought to bear in identifying, tracking and apprehending those responsible for the attack,” said the statement.
Governor Nasir Idris commended the police for the courage and sacrifice of its personnel, expressing continued commitment to supporting the Police and other security agencies in confronting terrorist and criminal elements operating within the state.
Mr Idris further assured the delegation of sustained collaboration with the security agencies, particularly in strengthening intelligence sharing, supporting operational efforts and denying criminal elements the opportunity to establish or maintain safe havens within the state.
“The Nigeria Police Force honours the memory of the fallen officers and stands firmly with their families, while assuring the public that every effort will be made to bring the perpetrators of this heinous attack to justice,” he added.
