INEC Shouldn’t Temper With The Choice Of Tarabans – Rev Dopah
Emmanuel Awari-Jalingo
The Taraba State Chairman of the TEKAN ECWA Church bloc Rev (Dr) Philip Micah Dopah has warned INEC against tempering with the wishes and choices of majority of Tarabans.
The Clergy was speaking against the backdrop of calls for the review of the just concluded governorship election results of Taraba State in which PDP won convincingly.
Rev Dopah explained that it is uncalled for, for a candidate that won just three local government areas to be complaining against PDP that won 11 local government areas.
He urged INEC to stay clear of causing confusion in the state and jeopardizing the existing peace that is being enjoyed.
In his words, “If Taraba State has 16 local government areas and a candidate won 11 out of it, it is enough for any reasonable person to know that the people have spoken. You won three local government areas and you are making noise.
“The election is not a battle for religion supremacy and so let us learn to respect the choice majority of the state have made.”
He added that God’s will for the state has come to stay and no one can thwart it.
Rev Dopah, said any one not comfortable with the election results can rather approach the law court and tribunal and not to ask INEC to subvert the Will of the people.
He commended the residents of the state for exhibiting maturity during and after the elections which was peaceful.
It would be recalled that the PDP pulled 257, 926 votes, and NNPP got 202, 277 votes.
