The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled bye-elections to fill vacant seats in the Rivers State House of Assembly for the Ahoada East II and Khana II State Constituencies.
In a notice issued on Tuesday, the Commission announced that the elections will hold on Saturday, February 21, 2026, with voting to commence at 8:30 a.m. across all designated polling units in the affected constituencies.
INEC assured residents and stakeholders that comprehensive preparations are underway to guarantee a free, fair, and credible electoral process.
The Commission urged eligible voters in the two constituencies to turn out peacefully and exercise their civic rights.
It also called on political parties, candidates, and their supporters to conduct themselves in accordance with the Electoral Act and INEC guidelines throughout the electoral process.
In addition, INEC appealed to security agencies to ensure the maintenance of law and order before, during, and after the polls to safeguard voters, election officials, and materials.
The conduct of the bye-elections is expected to restore full legislative representation for the people of Ahoada East II and Khana II in the Rivers State House of Assembly.
