The Nasarawa State Government has allocated N157,871 billion to infrastructure in its 2026 budget, representing the highest allocation to ensure rapid development of the state.
Hajia Munira Abdullahi, Nasarawa State Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Planning, stated that the allocation represented 26.76 per cent of the total budget.
Abdullahi said this during the breakdown of the 2026 budget allocations on Tuesday in Lafia.
The commissioner further said that the government had allocated more than N30 billion for the construction of four flyovers and four underpasses at Akwanga, Keffi and Mararaba, Karu Local Government Areas of the state.
She said the Governor Abdullahi Sule-led administration has prioritised the timely completion of all ongoing capital infrastructure and projects it initiated to avoid project abandonment.
Abdullahi further said the government had allocated N94,247 billion to the education sector, while internal security, governance and general administration, got N83,349 billion.
Finance, Investment and Trade were allocated N39,823 billion and health N37,779 billion.
“Others are Agriculture and Water Resources N31,946 billion, Local Government and Community Development N26,740 billion and Law and Justice Sector N16,088 billion, among others,” she added.
The commissioner said the government aims to boost security and good governance to attract investors and keep business thriving in the state.
She further said that the government would continue to support farmers with essential inputs and market-oriented interventions to boost yield with a view to ensuring food security in the state and the country.
Abdullahi reiterated the government’s priority on accountability and transparency in the management of public resources.
“In this respect, the ministry will rigorously monitor and track the implementation of all projects, programmes and policies outlined in the budget,” she explained.
It could be recalled that Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State on Monday signed the 2026 budget of N545.2 billion passed by the State House of Assembly into law. (NAN)
