President Bola Tinubu on Thursday “convened a high-level security meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, bringing together the nation’s top military commanders, intelligence chiefs and security advisers to review the country’s security situation.”
The closed-door meeting, which “lasted more than two hours, was attended by the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa(rtd); Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede; Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu; and Chief of Defence Intelligence, Major General Emmanuel Undiandeye.”
Others are: “Director-General of the State Security Service, SSS, Adeola Ajayi; Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, NIA, Mohammed Mohammed; Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun; and the President’s Special Adviser on Homeland Security, Major General Adeyinka Famadewa (retd.), among other security officials.”
Although “details of the deliberations were not made public, officials familiar with the meeting said it focused on reviewing the security situation across the country, including ongoing military operations against terrorists, bandits and other criminal elements.”
The meeting comes two days after troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, supported by the Air Component of the Joint Task Force (North West), disrupted what the military had described as a major planned terrorist offensive in Zamfara and Katsina States.
