The Directorate of State of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has announced the indefinite suspension of two key positions within the organisation—the Office of the Leader of IPOB and the Director of Radio Biafra.
Both roles had previously been occupied by Nnamdi Kanu, the detained separatist figure and founder of the movement.
In a statement released by the group’s leadership, the suspension takes immediate effect and will remain in force until further notice.
IPOB described the decision as part of internal administrative and organisational adjustments currently being undertaken within the movement. However, the group did not disclose the specific factors that informed the move, stating only that additional details would be made available at a later stage.
The development represents a notable change in the organisational structure of IPOB, given the longstanding association of the two offices with Kanu, who has remained the symbolic face of the movement over the years.
