The spouse of Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Madam Lianf Huili has described women as the creators of human civilization and drivers of social progress.
She states this in an opening speech at the 2024 International Women’s Day celebration at the China Cultural Centre in Abuja, on Friday, 08 March, 2024.
The 2024 International Women’s Day is with the theme: “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress,” The celebration of women’s achievements and contributions to society was held at the China Cultural Centre in Abuja, Nigeria to mark International Women’s Day.
The event featured speeches by Madam Liang Huili, wife of the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Muhammad Sulaiman, President of the Society of Nigerian Artists, and James Sule, Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Art, Culture and Creative Economy/Tourism in Nigeria.
Madam Liang Huili described women as “the creators of human civilization and drivers of social progress.” She highlighted China’s progress in promoting gender equality, noting that the country has a legal system with over 100 laws and regulations protecting women’s rights.
Sulaiman emphasized the importance of creating a more equitable and inclusive environment for women. He called for initiatives such as mentorship programs, skills development programs, and funding opportunities to help women succeed in their chosen fields.
The speakers all acknowledged the challenges that women continue to face, but they also expressed optimism about the future. They called for continued efforts to empower women and unlock their full potential.
The event also featured superlative songs and dance by Nigerians and Chinese community in Nigeria.
