Former Governor of Taraba State, Rev. Jolly Tavoro Nyame, has expressed his gratitude for his time in Kuje Prison and Hospital, stating that it has taught him valuable lessons that will make him a better leader if given another chance to serve the people of Taraba State.
Nyame made this statement during a thanksgiving service held at the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Secretariat in Jalingo. He expressed his excitement and joy at being reunited with the people and thanked God for his deliverance from prison and hospital.
“I learned a lot while in Kuje Prison and in the Hospital,” Nyame said. “If given another opportunity to lead the people of Taraba State, I will do better because of the experience I have gained.”
He emphasized the importance of faith and resilience, encouraging leaders to be strong in whatever situation they find themselves. “Even if you are going to be interrogated,” he said, “stand strong because there are people who cannot withstand interrogation because of fear.”
Nyame also addressed his imprisonment, stating that he believes it was politically motivated. He said that he served only four years of a 14-year sentence and used his time to reflect on his past and his relationship with God.
In addition to his personal reflections, Nyame also delivered a message of hope and unity for Nigerians. He urged Nigerians to be prayerful and have faith in the country’s future, stating that “Nigeria is in God’s agenda.”
He further called on Nigerians to pray for the country and to cut down on their expenses in preparation for the challenges that may lie ahead. He also urged the government to consider the needs of the people and to implement policies that will improve their lives.
The thanksgiving service was not only a platform for Nyame to express his gratitude but also an opportunity for religious leaders to deliver messages of inspiration. The State Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev. Isaiah Magaji Jirapiye, described the event as a welcome development for Nyame’s family and called on everyone to join in thanking God for his safe return.
The guest speaker, Rev. Kem David Yarnap, emphasized the importance of thanksgiving and how it strengthens faith and brings blessings. He encouraged believers to imbibe the spirit of thanksgiving at all times, reminding them that “God sees faith in you anytime you give him thanks.”
Nyame’s story and his commitment to becoming a better leader serve as a source of inspiration for those facing challenges and seeking to overcome them. His message of hope and unity is a reminder that even in difficult times, there is always room for reflection, growth, and positive change.
