JUST IN: Kaduna High Court Adjourns El-Rufai’s Bail Ruling to April 21, Awaits Another Bail Hearing at Kaduna Federal High Court

A Kaduna State High Court has adjourned its ruling on the bail application filed by former Kaduna State governor, Nasir el-Rufai, shifting the decision to April 21 as legal proceedings continue in multiple cases involving the ex-governor.

The court’s decision to postpone the ruling extends uncertainty over El-Rufai’s immediate legal status, as he continues to face allegations brought by Nigeria’s anti-graft agency, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

In a parallel development, El-Rufai is also expected to appear before the Federal High Court in Kaduna for a separate bail ruling linked to a second case filed by the ICPC. The dual proceedings form part of broader legal actions initiated against the former governor, marking a significant escalation in the ongoing scrutiny of his tenure in office.

Court officials did not provide detailed reasons for the adjournment, but such delays are common in high-profile cases where multiple filings and jurisdictions are involved. Legal analysts say the overlapping cases could prolong proceedings as both sides continue to file motions and counter-motions ahead of substantive hearings.

The former governor, a prominent political figure in northern Nigeria and a key player in national politics, has not publicly commented on the latest court developments.

The adjournment means attention now shifts to April 21, when the High Court is expected to rule on whether El-Rufai will be granted bail pending further hearings. Meanwhile, proceedings in the Federal High Court are expected to proceed independently, adding another layer to the unfolding legal battle.
