The Kaduna State High Court has again postponed its ruling on the bail application filed by former Governor Nasir Ahmed El-Rufai, who is facing charges brought by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
Speaking to reporters shortly after Tuesday’s proceedings, El-Rufai’s lead counsel revealed that the presiding judge cited the former governor’s influence and status as reasons for delaying the decision. According to the counsel, the judge expressed concern that granting bail at this stage could enable El-Rufai to interfere with or unduly influence the ongoing investigation.
The court has fixed the first week of June for the next hearing, during which it will further review the bail request and deliver its final ruling.
